Medan, August 14, 2026 — Students of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) once again achieved outstanding results in the 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) series. Two vocational education students earned awards in the Faculty Challenge organized by Garuda TV in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) as part of the PKKMB celebrations.
The Faculty Challenge was held on the final day of PKKMB, Friday, August 14, 2026, at the USU Twin Field. The competition brought together students from various faculties across USU in a series of challenges testing general knowledge, awareness, quick thinking, creativity, and participants’ ability to answer a variety of questions.
In the competition, students from the Faculty of Vocational Education secured two winning positions. Patrick Nicxon Hutabarat, a student of the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Public Sector Accounting, won First Place, while Arya Dwi Ardhana Wibowo, a student of the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Statistics, won Third Place.
The achievements of the two students demonstrate the ability of Faculty of Vocational Education students to apply broad knowledge and awareness, think quickly and accurately, and demonstrate confidence when facing challenges. Their success also reflects the potential of vocational students to develop their abilities not only through learning within their respective study programs but also through activities that broaden knowledge and strengthen critical thinking skills.
The Faculty Challenge added to the excitement of the final day of PKKMB 2026. In addition to testing students’ knowledge and awareness, the competition provided an opportunity for students from different faculties to interact, build a sense of community, and create positive experiences during the new student welcoming activities at USU.
For the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, the achievements of Patrick and Arya serve as motivation to continue encouraging students to actively develop their potential and broaden their knowledge. Participation in competitions such as the Faculty Challenge is expected to help students become more confident, critical, adaptable, and capable of working in teams while preparing them to face challenges in the workplace and society.
