USU Faculty of Vocational Education Welcomes accept visitation from Temasek Polytechnic Singapore
Medan, May 16, 2025 – The Faculty of Vocational Education at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received an official visit from Temasek Polytechnic Singapore to strengthen international collaboration in vocational education. The event took place at the Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU and was attended by faculty leaders and delegates from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore.
A total of 32 students from Temasek Polytechnic, representing five study programs, were present: the Common Business Programme, Accountancy & Finance, Communications & Media Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management, and International Trade & Logistics.
The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. Drs. Muhammad Husni Thamrin, M.Si., Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of cross-country collaboration in shaping global perspectives, especially for vocational students who must be adaptive to the dynamics of international industries.
A representative from Temasek Polytechnic, Ms. Tan Ee Ling, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from the academic community of the Faculty of Vocational Education. She also conveyed Temasek Polytechnic's interest in further collaboration through educational partnerships, student exchange, and cross-cultural programs.
A key moment in the event was the signing of a Letter of Collaboration (LoC) between the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, and Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore. The signing symbolized both institutions' commitment to building a productive and sustainable partnership. The event continued with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photo session in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The series of activities continued with cultural performances by students of the Faculty of Vocational Education and a cultural and tourism presentation by students from the D3 Travel Program. There was also an interactive talk show session and light games designed to create a relaxed atmosphere and strengthen relationships between participants from both institutions.
To conclude the visit, the guests from Temasek Polytechnic joined a campus tour focused on a visit to the Universitas Sumatera Utara Library. During this session, they were introduced to modern facilities, including digital services, a comprehensive book collection, and study spaces supporting students’ academic and research activities. Participants appeared enthusiastic and appreciated the campus infrastructure that supports a conducive learning environment.
This visit is expected to be the starting point for a constructive collaboration between the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, and Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, not only in academics but also in broadening global perspectives and cultural exchange for vocational students at both institutions.
