Medan, May 7, 2025 — To improve financial literacy and foster early interest in investing, the Capital Market Study Group (KSPM) of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in collaboration with Mirae Asset Sekuritas, held a Capital Market Education Socialization event with the theme “Capital Market Dynamics, Seize the Future.” The event occurred at the Faculty Hall and was attended by Finance, Banking and Finance, and Management study program students.

The event was officially opened by the Head of KSPM, Faculty of Vocational Education USU, John Martin Putra Siregar, who emphasized the importance of students understanding the capital market as essential preparation for facing future financial challenges.

The first speaker, Mr. Rizal Rafai, S.Kom, Senior Investment Specialist, provided in-depth insights into the importance of investing from a young age and understanding the mechanisms of the capital market correctly. Following him, Mrs. Nurul Izzati Lubis, SE, CFP (Certified Financial Planner), Investment Specialist, delivered material on investment strategies tailored to students’ financial conditions.

During his presentation, Mr. Rizal emphasized that investment is not exclusive to the wealthy.

“Students can be young investors. Eliminate the notion that only the rich can invest. In reality, everyone, regardless of social status, can start investing. Don’t wait until you’re rich to invest. Invest according to your current financial capability and let your money work for you.”

This event aimed to introduce the capital market and encourage students to manage their personal finances more wisely and with better planning. With the high enthusiasm of the participants, the event is expected to be a starting point for students to begin investing and developing healthy financial habits.

Kristin Charen Br. Manurung hosted the event, which concluded with an interactive Q&A session that showcased the students’ growing interest in the world of investment.
