Medan – The Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), convened a strategic planning and evaluation meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2026, chaired by Dona Tiara Lubis, S.T., M.T., Acting Head of the Study Program. The meeting focused on accreditation readiness and the structural alignment of academic performance data.

A primary agenda item centered on evaluating the Industry Capstone scheme within the Field Work Practice (PLPS) and Final Project 1 (TA 1) modules. Faculty members were instructed to complete industrial partner mappings and detail specific machinery or equipment utilized in student projects. This documentation directly reinforces the Study Program Performance Report (LKPS) by tracking student and faculty innovations adopted by industrial sectors over the past three years.

To ensure comprehensive accreditation evidence (eviden), the meeting mandated full documentation for student outputs, including project proposals, final reports, media content, press publications, and articles published in peer-reviewed community engagement and scientific journals.

Additionally, the study program emphasized graduate competency certifications for the 2022 and 2023 cohorts to ensure industry-aligned skill verification. Operational updates for calibration laboratory practicums were also finalized, establishing structured preparatory assignments, a maximum of three remedial attempts, merged practical-theoretical credit units (SKS), a competitive selection process for teaching assistants, and optimized utilization of the Calibration Engineering Laboratory.

Through these systematic enhancements, the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation USU continuously strengthens its academic quality assurance, ensuring vocational graduates meet rigorous industrial standards while solidifying accreditation readiness.

This quality assurance meeting directly aligns with Sustainable Development Goals SDG 4 (Quality Education) by upgrading vocational curricula and laboratory standards, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through graduate competency certifications and industry-aligned skill building, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by fostering industrial capstone collaborations and technology adoption.
