Medan, May 29, 2024 – The Diploma Program in Chemistry at the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at Grandhika Hotel Medan under the theme "Collaboration Between Higher Education and Industry to Support Teaching Factory (TeFa)-Based Learning."
The event commenced with an opening address by Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, S.E., M.E., Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU. The first session featured Markam A. Sinaga, S.Si., from PT Bakrie Renewable Chemical, who presented "The Role of Industry in Supporting Teaching Factory-Based Learning in the Diploma Program in Chemistry," moderated by Agung Pratama, S.Si., M.Si.
The second session highlighted Dr. Dimas Frananta Simatupang, S.Pd., M.Si., M.Sc., who delivered a presentation on "Designing Learning Models to Support TeFa in the Diploma Program in Chemistry."
This discussion aimed to:
Align graduate competencies with industry standards and procedures,
Guide students in selecting career paths that match their skills and interests,
Equip students with the practical skills necessary to excel in the workforce.
The collaboration between academia and industry through Teaching Factory-based learning is expected to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial practice, producing highly skilled and competitive graduates.
