From a Travel Hobby to Tourism Ambassador! Sahara Annisa Nadhista, a student from the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Public Sector Accounting, successfully crowned Second Runner-Up Dara at the 2025 Bujang Dara Competition of Aceh Tamiang.
Medan, July 30, 2025 – Sahara Annisa Nadhista, a student in the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Public Sector Accounting at the Faculty of Vocational Education, was crowned Second Vice-Miss in the 2025 Aceh Tamiang Regency Bujang Dara (Young and Young) Pageant. This achievement is a source of pride for the study program and the university, as Sahara has been able to elevate the university's reputation at the regional level.
The Bujang Dara competition is a prestigious contest that selects outstanding young men and women from various regions in Indonesia to serve as Regional Tourism Ambassadors. Participants are selected through a rigorous selection process to represent the best young generation capable of promoting culture, regional potential, and local tourism.
Starting from a passion for traveling that fostered a deeper curiosity about the potential of her homeland, Sahara was motivated to participate in this event. With the full support of her mother, she gained the confidence to perform on stage. The Bujang Dara Competition is not only a prestigious platform that fueled Sahara’s spirit but also helped her build self-confidence and determination to contribute to the development of Aceh Tamiang Regency.
Sahara’s journey wasn’t an easy one. She had to go through the initial selection process, interviews, training sessions, and finally the grand coronation night. Her confidence in delivering ideas, combined with strong insights into tourism, made her stand out before the panel of judges. Through this competition, Sahara gained many valuable experiences, ranging from building new connections, improving her public speaking skills, to broadening her perspectives for personal development.
“At first, I felt insecure because I thought there were others more deserving. But it turned out that the judges believed in my abilities. I feel very happy, especially because I could make my parents proud,” Sahara shared. She hopes to continue honing her passion and to create a positive impact for many people through the knowledge and experiences she has gained.
As a message to her fellow students, Sahara emphasized the importance of having a positive mindset. “If we dare to try, we can do it—and that will take us one step further,” she said.
Sahara’s achievement is solid proof that vocational students are not only competitive in the academic field but are also capable of making remarkable accomplishments in various areas. It is hoped that her success will inspire other students to keep trying, believe in themselves, and continue creating works that bring pride to both their region and university at broader levels.
