Through gathering activities, public sector accounting students create a space for togetherness without barriers, strengthen relationships, and build a foundation of solidarity within the study program environment.

Binjai, February 21, 2026 — The Student Association of the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Public Sector Accounting, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara held a 2026 Gathering and Inter-Batch Friendly Meeting with the theme Family Gathering of Public Sector Accounting 2026. This event took place at Biestro Binjai and was attended by students from each generation of 2024 and 2025 in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

This event aims to strengthen relationships between students and create memories of togetherness before they move on to the next stage of their academic journey. From the beginning of the event, the participants' enthusiasm was evident through their active participation in each series of activities.

The event was officially opened with a speech by the Head of the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Public Sector Accounting, Mr. Sambas Ade Kesuma, S.E, M.Si, Ph.D, Ak, CA., who emphasized the importance of building solidarity and communication among students. The event then continued with a report from the Chair of the Organizing Committee regarding the objectives and expectations for this year's gathering.

The atmosphere became more relaxed when the ice breaking session began. Laughter could be heard when several students had to come forward to show their talents as compensation for their mistakes in following the game instructions. The excitement continued in the group games session, which tested team cohesion and cooperation. Each team consisted of students from different batches, so through these games they had to build chemistry to overcome each challenge. The cheers of the participants accompanying each game successfully created a competitive atmosphere while still upholding sportsmanship.

As part of this gathering, the committee also allowed participants to enjoy various games at the venue as a form of relaxation from their academic routines. The event then closed with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competition as a form of appreciation for their active participation, followed by a group photo session for memories.

One participant shared their positive impressions of the event. She expressed a great satisfaction, stating that through the gathering, they were able to better acquaint themselves with the program's environment and the atmosphere felt comfortable without any sense of seniority.

It feels like home, like playing with family in the backyard, even though it's still in the process of becoming warmer. Overall, the atmosphere is really good and there is no seniority, I also got to know my friends in Public Sector Accounting better. In addition, it was a refreshing break from the routine of lectures, so it was really fun,” said the student representative.

On the other hand, the Chair of the Public Sector Accounting Student Association (HIMASIK) expressed his hope that this activity would not merely be an annual agenda, but rather the beginning of a tradition of togetherness that must be maintained by future generations of Public Sector Accounting students. “We want to create a space where there are no barriers between generations, so we can get to know each other better, build strong networks, and grow together in a spirit of genuine camaraderie. We sincerely hope that the solidarity fostered today will become the foundation for our collective progress in the future,”

Based on this activity, the Study Program would like to thank the Public Sector Accounting Student Association (HIMASIK) and other student committee members who were directly involved in the smooth running of the 2026 Gathering. In addition, it is hoped that the values of solidarity and togetherness will become increasingly ingrained as part of the academic culture of Public Sector Accounting students at the USU Vocational Faculty.
