HUMAS USU - The Faculty of Vocational Education (FV) initiated a seminar intended for fresh graduate students of FV USU, Tuesday (28/02/2023). The seminar, which discussed the world of work and the release of USU Vocational students, was held at the USU Student Center.
With the theme Prepare Yourself to Get Your Dream Job, this activity invited Pasoroan Herman Harlanja, who is the President of INAMPA (Indonesian Maritime Pilot's Association), and BPJS Health Relationship Officer KC Kisaran, as well as FV alumni Amelya Sibarani, as presenters.
Deputy Dean I of the USU Faculty of Vocational Education, Dr. Drs. Muhammad Husni Thamrin M.Si, said that this seminar was an effort by the faculty to equip students regarding preparation for entering the world of work. In this activity, students are given a kind of motivation and confidence in their competence.
“Especially prepared for our students, especially those who just graduated at the graduation ceremony yesterday. To prepare to face the world of work, so that the world of work that we have heard is cruel, and also the world of work that does not care about college graduates today, we make preparations for them, and we specifically invite Mr. Herman to provide base preparation,” said WD I FV USU.
The Faculty of Vocational Education itself has a target for its graduates to have decent jobs less than 6 months after graduation. According to the main speaker, Pasoroan Herman Harlanja, college graduates need to change their mindset. He said that an open mind towards the phenomena that occur in the disruption era is very important to have, especially in the world of work.
“Today, as a professional, I want to give a paradox called inspiration that only with enthusiasm can people succeed. We hope that graduates from this vocational program can immediately get a job. What is no less important is how to change the mindset, from a closed mindset to a growing mindset,” Pasoroan explained.
Pasoroan Herman Harlanja added that discipline is one of the benchmarks of one's success. In the end, he advised that every individual in the university can realize this university as a learning organization.
“My last message is that everyone in this university, whether individual students, alumni, lecturers, professors, deans, and so on, including the rector, must make this university the learning organization,” he added.
