Medan, November 20 and 27, 2025 – The Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), continues to strengthen relationships and strategic collaboration with the Business and Industrial Sector (DUDI). This initiative is undertaken as an effort to prepare graduates who are competent, competitive, and ready to face global challenges in the fields of metrology and instrumentation.

On November 20, 2025, the Head of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si., together with Practitioner Lecturer Kurniati Anisa, S.T., M.Kom., a Senior Metrology Inspector at the Directorate of Metrology Bandung, conducted an audience meeting with PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN). The meeting was warmly received by the Head of the Workshop, Mr. Danang, who welcomed and supported the proposed collaboration between the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation and PT Pertamina Gas Negara.

 

During the visit, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si., and Kurniati Anisa, S.T., M.Kom., also had the opportunity to observe laboratory facilities and the gas meter calibration process, including French calibration standard instruments, which further demonstrated the suitability of PT Pertamina Gas Negara as a strategic partner for collaboration with the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation.

Efforts to expand collaboration continued on November 27, 2025, when the Head of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si., invited PT Togatech Prima Mandiri, a company operating in the calibration sector. The meeting was held at the Workshop and Calibration Room, 3rd Floor, Building B, Faculty of Vocational Education, USU. It was attended by company representatives Andre, Director, and Arfiya, Manager of PT Togatech Prima Mandiri. From the Faculty of Vocational Education, the meeting was attended by the Vice Dean III, representing the Dean, Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum., along with Cut Annisa, Am.D., Dwi Damayanti from the cooperation unit, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si., and Sritata Tarigan, S.E., administrative staff of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation.

In his remarks, Vice Dean III Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum., expressed appreciation to the management and staff of PT Togatech Prima Mandiri for their willingness to accept students participating in the Plug and Play Program, which is currently running for one semester. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration through formal cooperation documents before the program concludes. From the company’s side, Andre, as Director of PT Togatech Prima Mandiri, stated that the implementation of the Plug and Play Program by students of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation had been running well. Therefore, the company expressed its readiness to collaborate further and formalize the partnership through official cooperation agreements.

During the meeting, the Head of the Program and company management discussed in depth post–Plug and Play Program activities, including opportunities to enhance student competencies through industrial practice, calibration training, and the development of industry-based curricula. The discussion then continued with plans for formal cooperation. The collaboration process is currently ongoing, and industry-based academic activities for the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year are planned to be conducted at the company.

Through a series of audience meetings and discussions with various industry partners, the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, reaffirms its commitment to continuous improvement and strengthening collaboration with industry. This cooperation is expected to enhance the quality of learning, enrich students’ practical experience, and support the development of graduates who are ready to compete at both national and global levels.
