Pematang Siantar, August 4, 2026 – The Diploma Program in Tax Administration at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), together with the USU Tax Center, held an academic meeting with the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of North Sumatra II on Tuesday (August 4). The meeting aimed to strengthen synergy and discuss plans to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on taxation cooperation, which will expire in 2026.

Head of the Diploma Program in Tax Administration at USU, Faisal Eriza, stated that the renewed cooperation is expected not only to continue existing programs but also to expand collaboration in developing practice-based curricula through field studies and living labs, while supporting the enhancement of student competencies. The cooperation will also focus on strengthening research and community service activities in the field of taxation.
In response, Acting Head of the Public Education, Services, and Public Relations Division of the North Sumatra II Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes, Argo Adi Nugroho, expressed support for strengthening the partnership with USU. The North Sumatra II Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes is opening broad opportunities for lecturers and students to conduct research and community service activities in the field of taxation within its working area.
The meeting marked a strategic step toward strengthening the role of higher education institutions as partners of the Directorate General of Taxes in advancing education, research, and community service in the field of taxation, while enhancing student competencies through sustainable collaboration.
