The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on the Implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum and Guideline Modules for Study Programs.
Medan, October 16, 2025 — The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on the Implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum and Guideline Modules for Study Programs. The event consisted of two sessions conducted on separate dates, aiming to strengthen understanding and implementation of learning outcome-based curricula within the Faculty.
The first session, a Sharing Session, took place online via Zoom on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, providing a platform for participants to exchange insights and foundational knowledge on developing and implementing OBE curricula across various study programs. The second session, a Coaching Clinic, was held offline on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Mikie Wijaya Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU. The event was attended by Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, as well as homebase lecturers from all programs under the Faculty of Vocational Education.
The activity was officially opened by Dr. Yasmin Chairunisa Muchtar, S.P., MBA., Vice Dean II of the Faculty, who emphasized the importance of synergy among study programs in effectively implementing OBE-based curricula.
In the material presentation session, Ria Anggraini, S.ST., MBA., CDTP, delivered a talk on strategies for developing and implementing OBE guideline modules. She elaborated on the stages of formulating learning outcomes (CPL), course learning outcomes (CLO), and constructing measurable assessment rubrics aligned with industry needs. Ria also shared practical examples of project- and case-based learning modules as effective approaches to enhancing students’ competency achievements. Following that, Hamdani Arif, S.Pd., M.Sc., presented a session on the technical aspects of aligning and structuring OBE curriculum modules across courses. He highlighted the importance of mapping the relationship between CPL, CPMK, and assessment indicators, as well as applying Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure curriculum quality. Hamdani also shared best practices in developing OBE documents using the Outcome Mapping Tool, which simplifies the process of evaluating learning achievements.
The session was moderated by Lailan Syafrina Hasibuan, S.E., M.Si., who facilitated the discussion in an engaging and interactive manner. Participants actively raised questions related to OBE implementation in their respective programs, particularly concerning the design of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) and outcome-based assessments. The event concluded with a summary delivered by the moderator, emphasizing the importance of consistency, continuous evaluation, and cross-program collaboration in realizing optimal OBE implementation within the Faculty of Vocational Education. Through this Bimtek, lecturers and program managers are expected to be better prepared to apply OBE-based curricula effectively and sustainably.
