“We shouldn’t just tidy up internally — we must also open our windows to external collaboration. Internationalization is about mindset, not merely documentation,”

Palembang, June 25–26, 2025 — Dr. Sambas Ade Kesuma, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA, Head of the Applied Bachelor's Program in Public Sector Accounting at the USU Faculty of Vocational Education, and Risanty, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, Secretary of the S1 Accounting Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU, were invited as keynote speakers at a Focus Group Discussion (FGD)/Sharing Session titled "Preparation for International Accreditation and Cooperation Exploration," hosted by Sriwijaya State Polytechnic (Polsri), Palembang.

Held over two days, June 25–26, 2025, at the Accounting Department of Polsri, this forum served as a strategic space for experience sharing, enhancing synergy, and outlining concrete steps toward achieving international accreditation for vocational education institutions. During the FGD, Dr. Sambas delivered a presentation on strategies and a roadmap for study program internationalization, including internal quality management, curriculum reform based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and external quality audits. Meanwhile, Ms. Risanty shared insights from the undergraduate academic perspective, particularly on strengthening assurance of learning, faculty governance, and mapping graduate learning outcomes aligned with international accreditation frameworks such as AUN-QA and FIBAA.

The participation of these two lecturers from different faculties at USU reflects a spirit of cross-disciplinary and cross-level collaboration in realizing a globally competitive transformation of higher education in Indonesia. The discussion was productive and engaging, concluding with a brainstorming session on follow-up action plans (RTL) to be facilitated by the Polsri team. This event also marked the beginning of institutional collaboration exploration between USU and Polsri, particularly in curriculum development, guest lecturer exchanges, and benchmarking vocational education quality.

“We shouldn’t just tidy up internally — we must also open our windows to external collaboration. Internationalization is about mindset, not merely documentation,” remarked Dr. Sambas in the closing session. This FGD reaffirmed that both the USU Faculty of Vocational Education and the Faculty of Economics and Business are actively contributing as strategic partners in developing an excellent and globally adaptive vocational education ecosystem.
